This talk by local historian Alexander D. Bevil marks the 40th anniversary of one of the worst crashes in American aviation history: the collision of Pacific Southwest Airways Flight 182 and the Gibbs Flite Center Cessna N7711G over North Park in San Diego. Learn about the unfortunate series of events that led to the collision, the grim aftermath, and how this tragic accident resulted in local and nation-wide FAA policy changes that made flying in commercial passenger aircraft (and even modern automobiles) much safer. Alexander D. Bevil is an award-winning local free-lance historian, writer and preservationist. For the past 30 years, Mr. Bevil has played an active role in identifying and preserving many historic landmarks in San Diego.
