Jewish Family Service Luncheon with Judy Batalion
Jewish Family Service of San Diego’s (JFS) annual luncheon to support mental health awareness returns on May 30 to the Hyatt Regency La Jolla, featuring author and performer Judy Batalion. Batalion will share stories about her tumultuous relationship with her mother – a severe hoarder – as well as the difficult process of healing when she became a mother herself. In addition to publishing her critically acclaimed memoir, White Walls: A Memoir About Motherhood, Daughterhood, and the Mess In Between, Batalion has performed original comedy sketches around the world and has written for The New York Times. Tickets cost $50 through May 1 and $60 thereafter. Funds will benefit JFS’s Behavioral Health Committee’s efforts to eliminate the stigma of mental illness through education and outreach. Registration will begin at 11 a.m. with the luncheon and program following until 1:30 p.m.
