The Pandolfo Quartet: 1689 - A Revolution for the Sun King
743 Prospect Street, San Diego, 92037
Cost: $10 - $40
The San Diego Early Music Society presents Paolo Pandolfo and friends in an evening of music for the viola da gamba by its most renowned and beloved composer. In the luminous court of Louis XIV, the Sun King, music was often provided by musicians of humble origins whose talents were nurtured and allowed to shine, especially composer Marin Marais. This program features two violas da gamba, along with harpsichord, theorbo, and guitar in French music of virtuosity and eloquence.
