The YMCA of San Diego County will be holding its Estate and Business Planning Seminar for Professional Advisors on Wed., June 6, 2018 from 2:00 to 5:30pm. The seminar will be held at the Farmer and the Seahorse (10996 Torreyana Road, San Diego, CA 92121). Cost of the seminar is $100 until May 25th then increases to $125. The YMCA of San Diego County’s Seminar for Professional Advisors has been providing continuing education opportunities to business and estate planning professionals since 2006. With recent sweeping changes in the tax laws, the 2018 Seminar for Professional Advisors is shaping up to be one of the most informative and valuable seminars ever offered by the nonprofit organization. Presenters Samuel A. Donaldson, professor of law at Georgia State, and Carol P. Schaner, partner with Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, LLP, will be leading the seminar titled “Estate Planning Under The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.” Specific topics to be addressed during the seminar include: j • Comparison of tax rates for ordinary income and capital gains • The interplay of the new standard deduction, the expired dependency exemptions, and the child tax credit • New limits on the home mortgage interest deduction and miscellaneous itemized deductions • How to deduct charitable contributions in addition to the standard deduction • The new deduction for “qualified business income” • Unwinding existing estate plans for clients who no longer face estate tax liability • Planning for married couples with small, medium, and large estates • Working with the various taxing authorities in a changing environment
