Language of Things: Multimedia Installation
San Diego Art Institute, a regional contemporary art center in Balboa Park, will launch its 2018 exhibition programming with a dynamic multimedia installation and curated event series entitled The Language of Things by bi-national artist Roberto Romero-Molino. Inspiring cross-cultural collaboration in the regional art community, this exhibition is a partnership between the San Diego Art Institute and the Tijuana Cultural Center (CECUT).
A surreal landscape of electronic birdsong and Stonehenge-like arrangements of TV screens, The Language of Things is filled with sound and video that changes over time, so that every second during the exhibition period is a unique moment for the show and the spectator. The exhibition takes the viewer deep into the world of perception, peeling back layers of cultural expectation to reveal the wonder and mystery of everyday sounds, images, and objects.
The exhibition will open with a reception on Saturday, January 20 and will follow with a robust programming schedule, including listening workshops with the artist, a coding seminar, and live electroacoustic, and instrumental concerts including San Diego’s Art of Élan. Ends on Saturday, March 17 with a closing reception.
