Solving Housing Instability in the Black Community
A Symposium for Problem-Solvers: Join the NAACP-San Diego as we explore how housing at risk puts our health at risk and ways to improve both in the black community. The event keynote speaker is Omar Passons, MPH, Esq, a land use attorney with firsthand experience in affordable housing, green building practices and job creation. A distinguished panel of community, government and industry experts look at how poor housing affects health in many ways, from increased stress, excessive commutes and lack of nutritious food. Affordable housing can also be about environmental injustices too. Panelists include La'Toya Renea Garrett, Dr. Monica Hinton, Dr. Samira Jones, community health advocate, Angela de Joseph, Mary Tesfaldet of the NAACP San Diego Youth Council, HHSA Housing and Community Development Services Director David Estrella, Shonda Herold, Parisa Ijadi-Maghsoodi, Reverend Richard Lawrence, and Kathryn Rhodes.
