Pushing the Boundaries of Traditional Asian Brush Painting
The "Gardens of Ink” exhibit at San Diego Botanic Garden presents a unique selection of contemporary ink paintings in the Ecke Building from 9:00 - 5:00 daily through August 31, 2018. Open to the public (with admission to SDBG). To push the boundaries of traditional Asian brush painting, Tiffany Wai-Ying Beres selected eleven San Diego-area brush artists. She even encouraged us all to throw caution to the wind and create wild and spontaneous work with our bamboo brushes and ink. Artists selected for this exhibit are: Lisa Curry, Edna Harper, Rosemary KimBal, Portia La Touche, Marilyn Link, Stephanie Mast, Laura Pasternak, Julia Roth, Linda Schroeder, Joanne Sullivan, Joan Yin. During the artists’ reception on Sunday, August 19, Tiffany Wai-Ying Beres will speak on the direction of contemporary Asian art. Painting demonstrations, and refreshments are included, and works are available for purchase. Mention you received an invitation to the reception for free entry to the Botanic Garden.
