St. Paul’s Senior Services and Love Uniting Volunteers (LUV) will be hosting the 2018 LUV Gala on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 6-9 p.m. at the Hilton San Diego Bay Front, located at 1 Park Blvd. The evening’s theme will be The Magic of LUV.

Leading the planning team this year is LUV Gala Committee Chair Eleanor Mohammed, who served as auction co-chair for last year’s gala. Mohammed first heard about the LUV Gala when her mother, Gwyndolin, joined St. Paul’s Senior Day program.

“I look forward to leading the committee this year because I’ve seen firsthand the exceptional care my mother has experienced at St. Paul’s,” said Mohammed. “St. Paul’s staff is already amazing, so my goal for the LUV Gala this year is to help raise the funds needed to give seniors the ‘facilities lift’ they deserve!”

All proceeds from the evening will fund renovations at St. Paul’s Villa, an assisted living and memory care community in Bankers Hill.

The event will also honor Ronne Froman-Blue, RADM, USN, Ret. She was the first woman to serve as commander of the United States Navy Region Southwest, a position known as the “Navy Mayor of San Diego.” She retired from the Navy in 2001 with the rank of rear admiral, after a 31-year career.

The reception will also feature two-time Grammy Award winner Kamau Kenyatta.
