Latin American Festival & Mata Ortiz Pottery Market
Immerse yourself in one of San Diego’s favorite cultural experiences, Bazaar del Mundo’s annual Latin American Festival and Mata Ortiz Pottery Market, August 3-5! Filled with stunning creations, live music and irresistible food, this free event will feature one of the country’s most extensive collections of authentic Latin American folk art.
Artists from across Latin America will showcase colorful traditional Mata Ortiz pottery, ornate décor, bright textiles and valuable collectibles for visitors to explore. Visitors will be delighted by the wide array of vibrant, art ranging from Felipe Barbosa’s bold Mexican jewelry to the whimsical figurines of Gerardo Ortega Perez.
Returning this year are Jacobo and Maria Angeles, whose traditional wooden carvings are showcased in Disney’s animated film “Coco.” Watch as this dynamic duo transforms stumps of wood into playful, spirited animals adorned with intricately hand-painted designs.
The marketplace will also be alive with musical entertainment, plus performances by traditional Chinelos dancers on Sunday at 1:45 and 2:45 p.m.
To enjoy this weekend of culture, art and fun, visit Bazaar del Mundo at 4133 Taylor Street in Old Town San Diego.
