Personal Essay/Creative Non-Fiction Workshop
Your life is filled with stories – your own and those of people and places you encounter – the famous, the familiar, or the little known – in the “dailiness” of life. Now’s the time for you to put pen to paper and record those stories and why they matter to you. In this five-week workshop (August 1, 8, 15, 22, 29), we’ll look at the nature of creative nonfiction and personal essays, how they differ from both fiction and memoir, and how they provide rich opportunities for storytellers. We’ll consider big pictures and the smallest details. You’ll have the chance to workshop three or more of your own short pieces (optional) and get guided feedback from Molly and other writers in the group. Bring your pens and paper (no phones or laptops please), your ideas and questions, and your writing spark for this engaging workshop.
