Wayne Shorter, world renowned saxophonist and composer, was a member Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers and the Miles Davis Second Great Quintet. San Diego emerging tenor saxophonist Robert Dove and his trio pay homage to Shorter whose storied career encompasses 50 years of jazz innovation from bebop in the 40s to breaking new ground in the genres of hard bop, post-bop, fusion and orchestral jazz. Dove is a member of the KSDS Jazz Orchestra led by Gilbert Castellanos, as well as a co-founder of the Thursday’s at The Ken jazz jam. Accompanying him to present an energized night of music are Tyler Kreutel on drums, and Dean Hulett on bass. Tickets include show admission, hors d’oeuvres, and free valet parking. Fri, Apr 27.
