Symposium – Irving J. Gill: Transitioning to Modern
Three scholars will examine the architecture, landscape, and clients of Irving J. Gill from 1905–1911, a time when he invents his high style, resulting in Gill becoming one of America’s earliest and most significant innovators of Modern Architecture. Our speakers include Sarai Johnson, architectural and cultural historian; Vonn Marie May, landscape historian; and James B. Guthrie, AIA, Gill Foundation president, founder, and Gill historian.

Born on April 26, 1870, in Tully, NY, help celebrate Irving J.Gill’s 148th Birthday with the Gill Foundation and fellow attendees.
Maybeck Award Celebration
Sponsored by the Irving J. Gill Foundation, Gill is the first California architect to posthumously receive the prestigious Maybeck Award for outstanding lifelong achievement in architectural design from the American Institute of Architects California Council. Join the Gill Foundation in a celebration of this great honor.

Gill designed many of his Transitional and his first Modern buildings here.
