Author Luncheon: Elizabeth Cobbs

Elizabeth Cobbs brings a unique and unexpected perspectives to our understanding of the past and present. Building upon remarkable life experiences and original research, Elizabeth Cobbs writes fiction and non-fiction that is both witty and scholarly. Her path-breaking books reveal a world that is as intriguing and surprising as it is real. Elizabeth Cobbs is the author of seven books, most recently The Hello Girls: America’ First Women Soldiers and The Hamilton Affair, A Novel. She is the winner of four literary prizes, and has written for the New York Times, Jerusalem Post, China Daily Forum, Los Angeles Times, San Diego Union, and Reuters. Her first documentary film, American Umpire, debuted on public television in 2016. Cobbs has served on the Historical Advisory Committee of the U.S. State Department and the jury for the Pulitzer Prize in History. She holds the Melbern Glasscock Chair in American History at Texas A&M and is a Senior Fellow at Stanford’s Hoover Institution. At age 23, she won the John D. Rockefeller International Youth Award for public service.
