The Lemon Grove Historical Society's Remembrance Project continues with the 50th anniversary of the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. On April 4, 1968, he stood on the upper balcony of the Lorraine Motel, Memphis, TN, and was shot to death by James Earl Ray. Panelists Dr. Dayo Gore, Prof. of Ethnic Studies at UCSD, and Dr. John Warren, editor/publisher of Voice & Viewpoint, will recall that watershed moment in the Civil Rights Movement, its long range impact and the state of civil rights in America today. Historical society president Helen Ofield will moderate. Head librarian Charlotte King-Mills will display related books and introduce the program.
