GSD Coterie: Mass of St. Cecilia
490 South Melrose Drive, Vista, 92081
Cost: Free
The Greater San Diego Music Coterie presents the Mass of Saint Cecilia by Jose Mauricio Nunes Garcia (1767-1830), the remarkable and most influential Brazilian composer of the classical period. Garcia was the Master Musician of the Royal Chapel at the Prince Regent's Palace in Rio de Janeiro. Garcia had access to the most up-to-date music from his European counterparts. His musical style shows the clear influence of Haydn, Mozart, and Rossini. The concert features the GSD Chamber Orchestra and Chorus, directed by Dr. Angela Yeung, with soloists Dana Worden, soprano, Carol Pence, alto, Andrew Garrett, tenor, and Frank Hallock, baritone.
