World Refugee Day Celebration
Officer Jeremy Henwood Memorial Park, 3700 Fairmount Ave. City Heights
Cost: Free
San Diego has a long history of welcoming refugees. For years, many countries and regions have held Refugee Days and even Weeks. One of the most widespread has been Africa Refugee Day, celebrated on 20 June in several countries. In 2000, the UN General Assembly decided that, from 2001, 20 June would be celebrated as World Refugee Day.
Each year the San Diego Refugee Forum hosts a World Refugee Day celebration in collaboration with other local organizations involved in supporting refugee resettlement, community groups, and the refugee community. Join the San Diego Refugee Forum for cultural performances, family and youth activities, refugee-made crafts and goods, community resources, and cultural tables.
