Join Professor Gloria Chacon of UCSD's Literature Department for a discussion of One Hundred Years of Solitude, the perennially acclaimed landmark 1967 novel by Colombian author Gabriel García Márquez that tells the multi-generational story of the Buendía family and the town of Macondo founded by them. Its magical realist style and thematic substance established it as a high point of the literary Latin American Boom of the 1960s and 1970s, as well as one of the seminal works of contemporary global culture.
