Nature of the Brush: Artists' Reception
One Father Junípero Serra Trail, San Carlos, 92119
Cost: Free
Modern Japanese Brush Paintings, the first independent exhibit by Julia Kazan Roth & Gaye Terp Lingley. These artists employ Asian ink and watercolors with spontaneous and expressive brush strokes. Influenced by Zen and their native West Coast, they depict the natural world but encourage viewers to interpret with imagination. Long-time students of Takashi Ryuho Ijichi, they are veterans of many group shows in Southern California. Roth has exhibited for three years in the Fine Art Division at the San Diego County Fair, and Lingley was a 2016 award winner in Orange County for the American Artists of Chinese Brush Painting.
