Spirit of '45 Day
Spirit of '45 Day is a National Day of Remembrance commemorating the last day of WWII. This is not a fundraiser. We must raise the money or request donations of all we do so that underprivileged children from all over the County can attend without hesitation The Spirit of '45 Day is a National Day of Remembrance for the Greatest Generation's special day and for our future generations. This is an educational day which has proven to provide our children the value system the Generation lived and retains since their lives during WWII. It is dedicated to provide a well managed opportunity for children to witness the sense of pride in America that these special elders can convey to them in stories when they meet! Children (and the rest of us!) will ask "Where were you on August 14th, 1945?" They will hear the Veterans tell them how they learned the War was ending, how it made them feel. how their lives could change, how their hopes had new foundation, how their health could improve or be cured, how their relationships and careers could resume, how they would find-out about and see their loved ones, families, friends and religion, and more. This is our 8th year. We raise just enough money for large canopies, good folding chairs. Special seating for an expected 100 WWII Veterans, porta potties that accommodate special elders, food which we sell at cost.
