Saul Ramirez: The Champions' Game
330 Park Boulevard, San Diego, 92101
Cost: Free
In April of 2015, a team of 12 middle schoolers from El Paso, Texas surprised the country by taking first place in the national chess championships. The young chess players largely credit their success to their art teacher Saul Ramirez who coaches the chess team after school. The story of Ramirez and his students is chronicled in The Champions’ Game, a testament to the resilience and spirit of children who dare to dream. Join Ramirez for a life-affirming discussion on his success as an educator of youth. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
