Korea Remembered: Part Two
3001 School Lane, Lemon Grove, 91945
Age Limit: 18+
Cost: Free
The Lemon Grove Historical Society's Remembrance Project continues its focus on Korea, the "forgotten war" (1950-53) and the "bamboo curtain" that split the country into north and south of the 38th parallel. Part Two features a screening of The Manchurian Candidate, the 1962 noir thriller based on real events -- the brainwashing of U. S. captives by North Korean communists with fatal results. Directed by John Frankenheimer, with performances by Laurence Harvey, Frank Sinatra, and Angela Lansbury, the film's conclusion spoke to the agonies of a vicious war that lingers over 60 years later. The Remembrance Project examines key world events and their impact on local citizenry and the hometown. Information: 619-460-4353 or 619-463-9819.
