Rise of Nursing in the U. S. Civil War
3001 School Lane, Lemon Grove, 91945
Age Limit: 18+
Cost: Free
By popular demand, master nurse Donna Lupinacci will repeat her lecture, The Rise of American Nursing in the U. S. Civil War 1860-65. The former military nurse vividly details the horrors of the Civil War that beckoned a handful of brave women to serve in makeshift hospitals with no supplies and rampant filth. Exhibiting courage under fire, inventiveness, and amazing stamina for barely $6 a month, these pioneers established the new profession of nursing. By the war's end, medicine had made a great leap forward thanks to their efforts. An encore presentation from the Lemon Grove Historical Society. Information: 619-460-4353 or 619-463-9810.
