Wayne Donaldson: Historic Preservation Architect
History Talks! Lecture Series presents Wayne Donaldson, historic preservation architect, on Transition of the Gaslamp Quarter into the National Historic District.
Donaldson is a well-regarded preservation architect. He presently serves as the Chairman of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. Originally appointed to the position in 2010, President Barack Obama reappointed him in August 2013 for another four-year term. Formerly the State Historic Preservation Officer of California, Donaldson has been practicing preservation architecture for over 35 years. In San Diego, Donaldson is one of the founders of the New School of Architecture as well as Heritage Architecture and Planning. Some examples of his commitment to historic preservation are in the Gaslamp Quarter as architect for the restoration of the Horton Park Plaza Hotel, the Horton Grand Hotel, and the San Diego Hardware Building.
