Before 1915: Balboa Parks Early History.
Nancy Carol Carter, horticultural historian, will discuss how Balboa Park weathered 47 turbulent years before the world swept into San Diego to visit the Panama-California Exposition of 1915. The commanding legacy of the Exposition obscures this critical early period of park history -- years when the very existence of the park was under threat.
This talk explores those early years of the park and the creation of the Exposition that changed Balboa Park and San Diego forever. Hosted by the San Diego Museum of Art.
