As part of its 40th Anniversary Celebration, the San Diego Repertory Theatre presents a staged reading of Philio W. Chung's drama. Accused of racism in his The Birth of a Nation, director D.W. Griffith made the movie Broken Promises, about the love between a Chinese man and an a white woman, to prove he wasn't. Griffith hired two Chinese-American consultants for authenticity. This is their story. Admission is free.
