Songs of Love and Adventure
4190 Front Street, San Diego, 92103
Cost: $5 - $15
Soprano Lynn Mendoza-Khan takes the listener on a musical journey, through vocal gems from some of the greatest song composers of the last century. “Songs of Love and Adventure” will feature Poulenc’s complete “Tel Jour, Telle Nuit,” one of the great song cycles of the vocal repertory, based on the beautiful and enigmatic poetry of Paul Eluard. Also on the program will be Heitor Villa-Lobos’ “Bachianas Brasilieras, No. 5,” two selections from Stefano Donaudy’s “Aria di Stile Antico,” and the signature aria from Alfredo Catalani’s opera La Wally, as well as songs by Ned Rorem and Ricky Ian Gordon.
