Children's Illustrator Gives Workshop
E.B. Lewis will lead a hands-on intensive workshop during his visit to San Diego.
This six-hour intensive will cover every aspect of the process of making picture books, with a focus on:
• Creating the hook of the book
• Referencing
• Working research
• Creating images that build a story
Lewis has years of experience teaching illustrators and his own unique approach based on illustrations as a visual language.
This schedule is as follows:
9 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Morning Session
12 -1 p.m. – Networking Potluck Lunch
1 – 4 p.m. – Afternoon Session
Participants are asked to bring a sketchbook, pencils, camera and something to share for the potluck lunch. (A small refrigerator and microwave will be available).

The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators is an international organization serving writers and illustrators of children’s literature, including books, magazines, educational material, plays, electronic media and film. SCBWI facilitates networking and information exchange amongst writers, illustrators, editors, publishers, literary agents, librarians, educators, booksellers and others involved with literature for young people. The San Diego chapter covers the San Diego region and is one of the most active chapters in the country.
