Centennial Plein-Air Paint Out
Balboa Park has long been an inspiration for plein air masters of the past like Alson Clark, Alice Klauber, Charles Fries, and Robert Henri. The San Diego History Center and The California Art Club are partnering to bring local painters together to paint in “plein air” in one of the most iconic locations in San Diego, Balboa Park. This free event and reception will take place at three specific sites have been designated for this event: the Alcazar Garden, the lush and verdant Zoro Garden, and the walkway between the San Diego History Center and Casa del Prado.
A casual reception will be held afterward at the San Diego History Center from 3pm to 4pm where the public will have the opportunity to speak to the painters and enjoy light refreshments and the product of a day’s worth of painting. Jeff Yeomans will be the event’s highlighted artist and will be participating in the event with “Plein-Air Paint-Out” participants.
All participating artists should check in at the SDHC or one of the check-in tables located at the three hub paint-out locations. All artists should come prepared with their own painting supplies.
