Hausmann Quartet: Songs Across the Sea
The Hausmann Quartet presents Converge, an interdisciplinary concert series celebrating the intersection of music, art, literature and scholarly thought, in the Union Theatre on the second floor of the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union at SDSU. The theme is Songs across the Sea: a musical migration to the Americas, an exploration of the cultural influence of music across multiple regions and peoples, specifically between Europe, the United States and Latin America. The concert will feature Dvořák’s “American” quartet as well as the world premiere of “Cante de Ida y Vuelta” by Belgian composer Linde Timmermans, who will be in attendance. The Hausmann Quartet will also perform works by SDSU Artist-in-Residence of Jewish Studies, Yale Strom, who will speak about the migration of Jewish music around the world. The concert will conclude with a panel discussion and dialogue with the composers.
