Ability Without Sight/El Poder Sin Ver Expo
The Braille Institute debuts expo to highlight vision health for Latinos with diabetes, blindness, and visual impairment.
According to the National Eye Institute, over the next 15 years the frequency of the top eye diseases in the Latino community will double and triple.
Free screenings and services will be provided by Braille Institute and its partners which include the American Diabetes Association, Scripps Whittier Diabetes Institute, UCSD Shiley/Lions children’s screening van, Scripps Project Dulce Retinal Imaging, San Ysidro Health Center, California Department of Rehabilitation, Chula Vista Collaboratives, California Department of Public Health, California Health Collaborative, National Kidney Foundation, Vision y Compromiso, Molina Healthcare, the Mexican Consulate, National Eye Health Education Program, and San Diego City Council Representative Sherri Lightner.
