Film in the Garden: Blood and Sand
Starring Tyrone Power, Linda Darnell, and Rita Hayworth, this film tells the story of illiterate peasant Juan Gallardo as he rises to fame and fortune as a matador, eventually sowing the seeds of his downfall as he becomes blinded by the acclaim.
Robert Henri, inspired by his trips to Spain between 1900 and 1926, produced a substantial body of work that included many representations of matadors. The exhibition "Spanish Sojourns: Robert Henri and the Spirit of Spain" reveals Henri's commitment to capturing the essence of Spanish tradition and culture.
