Stamped: China Proclaims Its Changing of the Guard
404 Third Avenue, San Diego, 92101
Cost: Free - $4
The Chinese Civil War (1945-1949) was not just about ideology and combat — hyperinflation during the war years also played a crucial role in allowing Mao Zedong’s Communist Army to triumph over Chiang Kai-shek’s Kuomintang Nationalist Army.
This exhibit features actual mailed envelopes with postage stamps of the period, as well as currency, photographs, and documents that graphically illustrate this time of tremendous social upheaval.
Exhibit runs August 16 to October 31.
