Senior Monday lecture: Cindy Stankowski on 10,000 Years: The Archaeological History of San Diego and the IMAX film Mummies.
San Diego is blessed with abundant natural and cultural resources. More than 23,000 archaeological sites have been discovered in San Diego County. These sites contain the material culture of people who have lived in the region for more than 10,000 years. This presentation will discuss the changes in artifacts and lifestyles of the ancient people who called San Diego home.
In the 2007 film Mummies, rediscover the tombs of the great pharaohs of Egypt, examine the process of mummification, and its role in ancient society and tour the great civilization of Egypt.
The first Monday of the month, seniors 65+ enjoy the Science Center exhibits, a lecture and a Giant Dome Theater show at a discount. 10:30am lecture; noon theater show; seniors $8, adults $17.
