"We play punk rock set to 1950s/60s pulp noir paperbacks," according to The Strangulators, a film-noir inspired band founded by members from Pony Death Ride, the Spice Pistols, and Screamin YeeHaws. The group is the brainchild of singer-guitarist Joe Macaskill (Pony Death Ride), who began writing and recording the group's debut concept record before assembling a live band with Chris Henry on lead guitar and vocals, Sppike Mike Muellenberg on bass and backup vocals, and drummer Davey Austin.
Their debut album You Can't Unmurder Someone was released in 2025. "This band is as much about visual presentation as anything else," says Muellenberg, "with full costuming and characters as well."
A new album dropped in November 2026 called Kill Kill Charity Kill. According to bandleader Joe Macaskill, "Our first album was recorded while I was still living in Vermont and produced by Urian Hackney, who is now the current drummer for Iggy Pop after a stent with Interpol. That record was recorded just before I left Vermont, a partying gift if you will, in 2023. The current lineup would be myself, David Hood on drums, Chris Henry on guitar, and Sppike Mike on bass guitar. B Riley contributed lots of guitar to the record, as well as Mike Kamoo from Earthling Records, he played on some drum tracks."
