The Splinters were an early 1990s band known for playing on Sundays at Bodie's downtown. The lineup usually featured guitarist-singer Miff Laracy (Tornado Magnet), drummer Skid Roper, singer-guitarist John Geenen (Nards), Owen Burke (banjo, ukulele), and the late Tom Richardson on bass and vocals. "We hosted a jam night where the likes of even Scottie Blinn would show up to jam," says Laracy.
Another frequent onstage guest was the future Jose Sinatra, a local theater manager then still known as Bill Richardson. "I loved it when Tom and Bill Richardson would sing 'This Boy' with Miff in beautiful three-part harmony," says Skid Roper. "I would get goosebumps while playing drums."
