SOL e MAR celebrates the unique pageantry and joy of Rioʼs Brazilian Carnival with Samba rhythms and dance. The group performs in various incarnations, from an intimate trio to a festival/club band complete with a horn and percussion section, a street parade, or a music and theatrical show production.
The many styles covered include Brazilian samba, bossa nova, axe and forro. Cuban salsa, cha cha cha, rumba, son, conga, Dominican merengue, Jamaican reggae, calypso and soca from Trinidad, New Orleans funk, north west and south African pop, and dance styles from Spain, Italy, Turkey, Russia, and India.
