"I'm kind of a band slut," says Rowland Bluntz, singer/guitarist in the Resevior Tips ("It's misspelled on purpose"), whose other bands have included Noise God and Hungover Tomorrow (also known as Punk Floyd).

Bluntz was playing in the metal band Tore Back when he met bassist/singer Mike Woods (WNP, 39 Dead, Too Far Gone), while both attended high school in Chula Vista. Drummer Melvin Knurbein (Woodshed, the Untold, Storm Section, and FFF) joined them to form the Resevior Tips. “The first Resevior Tips show was in 2003 at a hall in El Cajon," says Woods. "We opened for Agent Orange.” An album recorded around that time, First Cum First Served, remained unreleased for many years.

Beginning around 2005, Bluntz -- under the name LSD Productions ("It stands for Local San Diego") was putting on two shows a month at a Spring Valley bar named Fannie's. He says he never charged a cover. So that the Resevoir Tips could open for '80s metal gods Battalion of Saints, Bluntz once shouldered the entire cost of bringing them down from L.A. to play Fannie's.

In 2008, drummer Melvin Knurbein received a kidney and pancreas transplant, continuing to experience several health setbacks over the following decade, including being diagnosed with diffused gastric cancer.

Woods, who attended Hilltop High School in Chula Vista, went to Southwestern College to study sound recording. “I ended up changing gears when I got a part time job at a funeral home.”

As of 2018, Woods was still working in the funeral industry while playing in bands.
