Background:
Pool Party is a three-piece electronic infused hip-hop band which mixes dance tempos, deep bass lines, and smooth vocals. Influenced by dubstep, drum-n-bass, and break beats, they released their Pet Me EP in 2012.
After the EP release, the track “Spaceship” was made available as a remix. In summer 2013, they released their Looking Up EP, recorded at Capricorn Studios, mixed and engineered by Josh Mallit, and mastered by Joe Goodwin with additional production provided by Coda Collins. It includes a cover of the disco hit "Turn the Beat Around."
As for the title, “Looking Up EP is an omen to our mentality right now,” Goldberg told the Reader at the time. “We've spent the last year working hard to develop our own sound, learn new skills and production, while still understanding how much more there is to know and learn, and what it takes to be a successful band in today's changing musical landscape.”
