Moondaddy is a dream pop quintet founded in 2020 by singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Cara Potiker. Their debut Poet Lies landed them a tour slot on DeVotchKa’s sold-out West Coast tour, plus they opened for Cryogeyser and Peel Dream Magazine, and played a sold-out 2,700-person show opening for Beabadoobie at Soma Mainstage.
Their 2024 Lightwave Lightwave EP was preceded by a single for "Conquer Me." The EP was recorded at Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas and co-produced by Manuel Calderon (Animal Collective, Beach House) and mastered/cut from the tapes to a lacquer by Paul Gold (Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective) at Salt Mastering.
Their sophomore full-length Dove Tapes was released in 2025, preceded by singles such as "Great Expansion." Potiker recorded the album with Patrick Heaney on drums; Robert Wren on bass; Gabriel Poissant on electric guitar; and Eric Coughanor on cello. Creating the album involved laying down full analog recordings at Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas with Manuel Calderon (Animal Collective, Portugal. The Man, Beach House) at the helm. The tracks were then mastered directly from tape to lacquer by Paul Gold (Grizzly Bear, Songs: Ohia) at Salt Mastering, an approach they picked up for the previous year's Lightwave Lightwave EP.
