The Monarchs were a late 1960s pop-rock band formed by 1967 Crawford High graduates Joel Partovich, Joe Osuna, and Joe Nachison.

The Monarchs played local teen clubs and opened for touring bands, including CCR at San Diego Community Concourse in November 1969. They later tried to change their sound to be more psychedelic, renaming themselves the Glass Menagerie.

Joel Partovich passed away in 2005 after suffering a heart attack while recovering from a stroke. Joe Osuna died in 2006.
