Kartik Seshadri is a master sitarist who plays in the style of the Maihar gharana school of Hindustani music. After picking up the instrument as a child, he began studying with Pandit Ravi Shankar in 1965, at the age of eight.

Seshadri - who moved to America in 1981 - went on to direct a classical music program at the University of California, San Diego.

Seshadri and composer Philip Glass collaborated on the Orion Project, which was performed at the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, the Cervantino Festival in Mexico, and Australia’s Melbourne International Arts Festival.
