Drummer, pianist, and music teacher John Flood has performed with the San Diego Symphony, and has long served as an artist-in-residence for the San Diego Unified School District. His theatrical work has included productions with the La Jolla Playhouse and San Diego Repertory Theater.
Flood has recorded the La Jolla Symphony and was principle percussionist of the La Jolla Civic Orchestra. He has performed with local jazz master Jimmy Cheatham and his own band, New Math.
In 2009, Flood was awarded the Outstanding Multicultural Music Educator by the California Music Educators Association Southern Border Section, for his work as director of percussion at the School of Music and Dance and with educational programs developed with the International House of Blues Foundation.
