Singer/songwriter Justin Watson, aka producer Jay Wat, grew up in Detroit. After serving in the Navy and working as an electrician, he opened his first local recording studio around 2007, in National City. An aborted attempt to relocate to L.A. found him back in San Diego in 2014, where his Jay Way Production studio lined up clients such as Vokab Kompany, for whom he provided vocal, instrument, and beat engineering on their album The New Kong.
