Death metal quintet Eukaryst formed in 2009, originally leaning towards hair metal. After drummer Daniel Eder moved to Africa and was replaced by Dylan Marks (an elementary scholl teacher), their sound became harder. Bassist Gino Fontana, who has worked as a brewer for Pizza Port, helped developed the band's signature Eukaryst Sinister Imperial Oatmeal Stout.
They released their full-length Dreams in the Witch House in 2014, winning a San Diego Music Award for Best Hard Rock Album.
In 2018, guitarist Belisario Dimuzio joined Cattle Decapitation.
