Background:

Dane Conover, who wrote the Beat Farmers song “Happy Boy,” first earned notice in the late seventies with the Puppies, who were signed to Stiff America in the late seventies, but then split.

Conover later signed with MCA as a solo artist, as well as performing with Trees, whose one album was called Sleep Convention. As of 2010, he records with his wife Marisa, aka Missy, under the name Popgems.
