Chon is a prog/fusion/experimental math rock band, heavy on the complicated guitar parts, originally featuring Mario Camarena (guitar), Nathan Camarena (drums), Erick Hansel (guitar), and Drew Pelisek (bass). They honed their sound on two EPs, Newborn Sun and Woohoo!

They released their debut album Grow (Sumerian Records) in 2015, preceded by the single "Can't Wait" and supported by a tour with Circa Survive. The group has also toured with bands like Animals as Leaders, Coheed and Cambria, and After the Burial.

Their 2017 album Homey was influenced by electronic music, featuring multiple guest producers and an increases reliance on syths and electronic effects. It peaked at number 66 on the U.S. Billboard chart.

A 2019 Coachella performance included guests Kenny G, Cuco and Masego. Their third album was self-titled and released in June 2019, featuring new bassist Esiah Camarena and preceded by singles for "Peace" and "Petal," as well as a music video for "Pitch Dark." The record was supported with planned festival appearances at Shaky Knees and Electric Forest, along with a U.S. tour backed by DOMi and JD Beck.

They supported the album by launching a full U.S. tour with Between the Buried and Me And Intervals, kicking off November 7 2019 in LA and wrapping December 15 in Anaheim, with an Observatory North Park date on December 14. Then, a three month world tour (late July-early October) taking them across Asia, the United Kingdom, and Europe, including stops in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore, London, Munich, Taipei, and New Zealand.
