Background:
Birdy and the Bow Tie (Alison Marae and Wil Forbis) play vintage pop with their own originals thrown in the mix. They’re inspired by popular music from the first half of the 20th century, such as 1920s blues, 1930s jazz, black and white musicals, folk, and early country. Marae plays ukulele, sings a Billie Holiday-inspired vocal, and taps a rhythm soft shoe. Forbis plays lead acoustic guitar, has a Cab Calloway scat, and croons a jazzy melody. Together, they make sweet harmony.
