Kidnapped for Money "to Marry and Study" (Tijuana Press, 1/21/13 by Leonardo Ortiz and Vicente Calderón)

Tijuana, BC - The two young men detained by Municipal Police assisted by the local Corporation of Tijuana confessed to the Attorney General of Justice of the State they kidnapped a man.

According to Miguel Angel Guerrero of the Attorney against Organized Crime, Brandon David Sanchez Gordillo and Cristian Santos Trujillo declared that the abduction they committed was in order for one to get money to get married and the other to finish his studies. They had asked the relatives of the victim for $150,000.

In an agreement to the State officials, Santos Trujillo claimed to be a Technological Institute engineering student in Tijuana. The 19-year-old’s Facebook profile also stated the same, although press reports indicate that the Technological Institute of Tijuana denies he is a student of the institution.

The alleged hijackers attempted to amputate a finger of the victim using a hammer and a chisel, according to a report from Miguel Angel Guerrero. The victim was drugged when they tried to perform the amputation, but they aborted and practically left the finger "hanging", explained the State official. Despite the efforts of doctors, everything indicated the victim will lose his left ring finger due to the damage they caused. http://www.tijuanapress.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=8749:lo-secuestran-pa-casarse-y-estudiar&catid=1:locales&Itemid=50
