Auditions for BUS STOP by William Inge, March 18 & 19, 7-9pm

In the middle of a howling snowstorm, a bus out of Kansas City pulls up at a cheerful roadside diner. All roads are blocked, and the weary travelers are stranded until morning. An American classic, Bus Stop is a romance with both dramatic and comedic elements. Visit www.powpac.org for more info.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Headshots and résumés are appreciated, but not necessary. We also are looking for volunteers for all tech positions and running crew for the show. If you have further questions please feel free to contact the director/producer at maryemily@rocketmail.com or call 619-690-0539.

Went hiking in Blue Sky Reserve the other day. This is the second time. First time I went it was cooler and I took the path out of the reserve towards Lake Poway. This time it was hot and we ALMOST made it up to Ramona lake, but we were running low on water and had to turn back. The reserve is beautiful and an easy walk. The path to Poway lake is more difficult than going through the reserve, but not as steep as the way to Ramona lake. If you go, definitely bring a lot of water. There's no water there to refill a bottle and once you start heading out of the reserve toward either of the lakes there's very little shade. But it's a beautiful walk and great exercise. Does anyone else spend time in Blue Sky reserve? Any suggestions for other beautiful hikes?

Hey, tweesparkle...

Poway's cutest girl, by which I mean my roommate's 6 year old daughter, loves to hike "the scary path" up to Twin Peaks.

To start go over by the hospital and find a street call Larchmont. Drive all the way to the dead end and park there in front of the houses.

It is about 25 minutes to the top on well maintained trails that see little use but lots of wild life.

At the 360 vista at the top, you will look down on some of the most exclusive houses in Poway.

But, don't forget to look for Cortez gold that awaits a lucky finder!! hehe. True story!

Oh, you can also go about 1/2 way up and stay to your right. The trail will descend into Silver Set Park. Some people start at the park, but it isn't nearly as much fun.

Suzie went to Lake Hodges yesterday and loved it. Have you tried there?

Mother's day!! I spotted only one on Amso, over by the hospital. Usually there are two or three in that area every weekend.

Where do you usually look?

I noticed that people like to keep the city owned lemon orchard (on Adobe Ridge Rd.) a secret. Real estate brokers like to use it as a selling point, though. I was once a victim of lemon theft by a landlord's agents in another part of the county. Makes you wonder.

ugh. am i the only poway person who is really bummed out about the Wal-Mart mega-uber-giant expansion? i really love our little businesses. the hippie in me is wanting to protest, but i know everyone is going to shop there. what can we do to save our small businesses?

They're building a Wal-Mart here in Escondido too. I don't think you can do anything except continue to buy from as many small businesses as you can instead of them.

I'd move to Poway if I could afford it. I used to enjoy taking the buses there before my accident. Buses and walkers don't go together very well.

Has anyone else seen those guys in the field off off Garden Road flying those remote control airplanes?! I stand in my back yard and watch them fly those things around for hours. They are fun to watch but I want to ask if I can have a turn.
