you know how when your kids were little they had those special little names for things that weren't exactly right

a spare grass ...for a vegetable they didn't like

or

little trees ...for the one they really detested

flowers got their fanciful name changes too...my kids call Hibiscus ...High Biscuits

and spring is coming and i know it's true no matter what Puksatawny Phil says because this morning all over the home shopping channels the nurseries were out plying their trade

flowers... Hibiscus as big as circus tents in every color...drought resistant and small now...but willing to become a fence line hedge by the time Autumn rolls around

the tropics simply jump out at you if have these flowers growing in your yard...and when the temp climbs above 100* in May...they will reward you with rapid growth and flowers the size of your gardening hat...in spite of the fact they aren't growing in the lush island of Kauai or some other tropical island chain place

oh they be so nice!!!!!!
